The Cross Stobs Bottle Shop was set up by David Prow to bring the most
exciting and diverse range of wine, at the most competitive pricing, to
the West of Scotland.
Late 2010 saw the launch of www.crossstobsbottleshop.co.uk which will provide a
unique range of wines that are competitively priced, offer excellent
quality and hold customers interest as they are all, lets just say it, not
supermarket brands.
As David was completely out his depth with the technical side of the
on-line store, he still struggles to work a mobile, David Smith took
control of building and managing the on-line store. David was the shops
web designer but quickly seen how out his depth David was with the on-line
business so felt it was only fair to partner David on the business.

David opened the Cross Stobs Bottle Shop 2010, in Barrhead, his first
venture into wine retail, perhaps his last having worked out how many
hours it takes up!!! Having spent the 11 years prior to this working in
numerous positions within the licensed trade, and the last 7 years
whole-selling wines and spirits, it is safe to say that David is
passionate about all things alcoholic, occasionally a little too
passionate.
Initially David was a reluctant fan of wine, his friends continually
warned him he would end up wearing a lot of tweed and leather elbow pads.
However wine won and David is now immersing himself in all things wine.
His time whole-selling wine and spirits in Glasgow has allowed him to
develop a good understanding of the Scottish wine market. From picking
house wine for a local pubs or completing a wine list for a fine dining
restaurant his enthusiasm, passion and knowledge led to exceptional
service, quality and price on the wines selected. He may now even own
some tweed!!!
David believes wine should be for everybody and loves nothing more than
putting something unusual infront of customers and getting a good
reaction. In the time since he opened the shop he has been really inspired
by the loyalty customers show, if the wine is of good quality, they will
keep coming back.
Wine highlight - Visiting Bodegas Faustino in 2008 during harvest, got to
see all the theory in action for the first time, Endless supply of
Faustino I Gran Reseva in one hand, Lamb chops straight from the bbq in
the other.
Favourite wine - Different wines for different occasions the right wine and
the right people can make a wine taste even better. However a night off
work with the TV to myself and a well selected red wine can be hard to
beat! Occasionally he may even have been guilty of forcing the wife to
watch X-factor with a few bottles of rose wine on a Saturday night.
